MAXPASS Basics: A Step-by-Step Guide on How it Works and the Benefits

If you are someone who hates waiting in long lines, doesn’t want to run all over the park to grab a paper FastPass, and is willing to pay a little extra money to avoid having to do so, Disney’s MAXPASS is the perfect option for you.

And if this doesn’t suit you, don’t worry! Disneyland still has the free FastPass system in place that I will discuss in another post.

This is a relatively newer service that is completely optional

MAXPASS is a paid service ($15 per day per person) that allows you to make reservations for select rides and shows directly from your smartphone. This can be a lifesaver for anyone, even for those who don’t have special needs!

Describing how it works can be a little tricky to explain, but it’s actually simple to use once you get the hang of it. This article will help you understand what the MAXPASS is, what it costs, and show you step-by-step how to use it.

Important MaxPass Information

Disney’s MAXPASS is available for $15 per day, per ticket (there is a one-year option for Annual Pass Holders for $100).

If you are visiting the park for multiple days and are not sure if you want the MAXPASS for each day, choose to only pay for an individual day. This can be added later to your park ticket when you arrive at the park. To purchase park tickets, click here.

It can be used in conjunction with Disability Access Service (DAS).

Purchasing the MAXPASS can be done on the Disneyland App. If you choose to do this, you can link your tickets to the app ahead of time.

It’s important to name each ticket with the appropriate guest’s name so you can tell the tickets apart; otherwise the ticket will only show a list of numbers.

Active MAXPASS users receive unlimited downloads of PhotoPass pictures. PhotoPass includes professional photos taken by Disney cast members. Cast members can be found scattered around the park.

To use this service, you must download the Disneyland App on your phone and link your park ticket.

You can make reservations for everyone in your party as long as they have MAXPASS and have linked their tickets to your account.

You cannot make a reservation until you enter the park through the turnstile gates. If making a reservation for everyone in your party, they all need to have entered the park.

You will want to bring or purchase a cell phone charger or battery pack since this service relies on the use of your phone throughout the day.

Take into consideration your phone’s data usage if you do not have a cell phone plan with unlimited data. Disneyland Resort does have Wifi, but it is sketchy in many areas of the park and is unreliable.
